Endowed and Pass Through Scholarship Overview

The Sanger Education Foundation is honored and privileged to maintain and administer endowed student scholarships. Named Student Scholarships award annually from earnings reflective of each individual Named Scholarship Endowment housed and managed within the Sanger Education Foundation, or as a pass through Scholarship with award funding provided by the donor annually.  All Scholarships have specific criteria established by the donor. 

Alta Holder- Lovell Memorial Scholarship:
Currently underdevelopment by SHS Ex-Student Association and current SISD Staff in honor of the longest continually awarded scholarship within SISD and the Sanger Community.  Until fully established, First United Bank of Sanger is awarding the scholarship.

Stephen Baker Memorial Scholarship:
This fully endowed scholarship is given annually to a graduating senior from Sanger High School who has lettered in at least two varsity sports, maintained an A-B average and demonstrated leadership, strength or character and sportsman like conduct both on and off the field/court/track.  Established by Friends, Teammates and the Classmates of Stephen with stewardship placed within the foundation in December 2009.

Chelsea Bulger Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded annually to a graduating senior from Sanger High School who has participated their senior year in volleyball or golf with preference being given to student attending a two year junior college. The Scholarship was established by Mark and Renee Bulger in October 2008 and became fully endowed in 2012.

Clovis Crockett Memorial Scholarship:
The Clovis Crockett Memorial Scholarship is the oldest continuously awarded scholarship within Sanger ISD. Created by the class of 1928 in memory of their classmate, this academic scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior with priority given to extenuating circumstances or family situations that could affect their pursuit of higher education. Presently this scholarship is independently funded until fully endowed.

The Crutsinger “Purple Pride” Scholarship:
Established in December 2016 by Christy and Kent Crutsinger for a graduating Sanger High School senior who is in good academic standing, participated in extracurricular activities and was involved within the Sanger Community. 

Carol Danner Scholarship:
Created and dedicated to SISD Retired Teacher Carol Danner by her family in April 2017.   This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior entering a 4 year college or university with the interest of majoring in one of the STEM fields or pursuing a degree in education in a STEM Field.

Billy Craig Dennis Memorial Scholarship:
Created by the friends and family of Billy Craig Dennis with stewardship placed within the foundation in 2007. This fully endowed scholarship awards a graduating senior from Sanger High School who enrolls in a college or trade school with the interest of pursuing a career in agriculture.

Miguel Garza “Love and Light” Memorial Scholarship:
Established by Rena Garza in August 2016 in memory of Miguel, the “Love and Light” Scholarship recognizes a graduating senior who participated in Baseball or softball, enrolling in a 2 or 4 year College or University and who best exemplified Miguel’s love for life, ability to brighten ones day and values true friendship.

Joe & Elizabeth Higgs “Spirit of Sanger” Scholarship:
This long time standing Community Spirit Scholarship was moved within the foundation in December 2016.  The “Spirit of Sanger” scholarship is awarded to a graduating SHS Student who is in good academic standing, participated in extracurricular activities and was involved within the Sanger Community. 

Roman Juarez Memorial Scholarship Fund Endowment:
Created by CoServ Electric in memory of Roman Juarez in February 2008. Fully endowed scholarship is awarded to a meritorious college bound senior who participates in a sports activity.

Bradley Mitchell Memorial Scholarship:
Created by Shane and Cindy Brummett in memory of their son, Bradley, in January of 2013. Presently, this scholarship is independently funded by the family until it becomes fully endowed. This memorial scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior pursuing college, trade school or a licensed certification who exhibits strong character strengths in leadership, guidance and capacity of caring about others.

Rowdy Pursur Memorial Scholarship:
Newly created by fellow classmate, Drew Hall, The Rowdy Pursur Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who participated in athletics in general, lettering in at least two sports, and demonstrates good character on and off the field, court and track. 

Bob & Mary Jo Stover & Family Scholarship
Established in 2023, the scholarship is awarded to a Sanger High School Graduate with a priority of a female athlete who has lettered in Basketball, applying for a four-year college, a trade school, Junior College or an industry standard certification program. 

Linda Tutt Memorial Scholarship:
Awarded to a graduating senior from Linda Tutt High School who demonstrates significant financial need.  Recipient must pursue higher education and/or vocational training.  This fully endowed scholarship is awarded annually by family and friends and was placed within the foundation in November 2009.

Martin Villanueva Attendance Scholarship:
This fully endowed scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior with the fewest absences.  The scholarship was created by the classmates of Martin Villanueva (Class of 1979) and placed within the foundation for stewardship in 2009.  Previous scholarship awards made possible by First United Bank.

CoServ Charitable Foundation Scholarship
The CoServ Charitable Foundation wishes to annual award a graduating senior with a scholarship. All graduating students attending Sanger High School are eligible to apply and representative of a well rounded student wishing to attend either a two year or four year higher education.  

DATCU Scholarship
The DATCU Scholarship is made possible through the DATCU, SISD and SEF partnership in support of a 10-year agreement for the creation and sustainability of the Audio Visual CTE Program resulting in the installation of a digital scoreboard at Indian Stadium.  Local community businesses have the opportunity to advertise and promote their products and services. The proceeds from scoreboard advertising go to the Education Foundation, providing scholarships and grants to students and teachers.

Taylor Jones Veterinary Scholarship
Newly created by Taylor's parents upon her graduation as a Veterinarian the Dr. Taylor Nicole Jones, DVM Veterinary Medicine Scholarship, is awarded to a graduating female senior who participated in athletics and pursuing an interest in Veterinary Science/Medicine. 

SEF Giving Benefit Supporter Scholarships
During the course of a fiscal year, various supporters of the foundation can elect to support a scholarship ranging from $500 - $1,000 scholarship.  These scholarships are applied for through our online portal and not necessarily individually listed and vary from year to year.
